How To Care For A Brain Cancer Survivor

Cancer is one of the most deadly disease in the present days. It affects organs and grows fast in the cells. There are very few people who respond to treatment and get better if not well. If it is detected at an early stage then treatment becomes easy. This is however not the case for certain types of the illness. Only a small percentage of brain cancer survivor exist and therefore they have to be well taken care of.

The recuperating process has to be monitored. The invalid, the concerned doctor and close relatives have this responsibility. Always note any change in the health condition of the person and report it as soon as possible. Even with proper medication, the growth may not be totally cured. Small cells might remain in the body which may grow with time and cause the problem to reappear.

The victim suffers side effects. Both long term and late effects. Its mainly as a result of treatment process and the medicines taken. Long exposure to the x-rays affects the invalid and may lead to a change in their behavior. Its the duty of friends and relatives to understand these people and help them cope with the changes. Encourage and make it look normal.

The only way a nurse will know the health history of someone is by going through previous reports. A person must have these at all times. It does not matter whether they are fully healed or not. Any time they visit hospitals, they must carry these along. We as the immediate assistants must make sure that the records are kept in the right places and that they are accessible any time they are needed.

Given the side effects discussed above, it is important that someone with good experience talks to them and gives the encouraging words. Hearing words of hope and knowing they are not the only ones makes them move on with life. During such sessions they get to interact with people going through the same and get the will to live life again.

Most of them are always asked to visit the doctors from time to time. They may forget the exact dates or even totally fail to attend the appointments. Taking them to such sessions is vital. Making sure that they do not miss any and also they gain from them will be beneficial.

They should not do a lot of work. Employing house helps and people to assist them in their homes is necessary. This keeps them from straining and hence saving up their energy. Preparing their food, cleaning dishes and the house can be too much work for them even if they seem easy. It may worsen their condition if they are still recovering.

The high costs involved in diagnosis and treatment of the patients normally bothers them especially if they do not have money. In the event that there are any debts that were not paid during the treatment process need to be settled. This relives stress hence no pressure to the brain which is recommended. Ask people to contribute money towards this purpose and pay all outstanding charges.
