What Are The Benefits Of An Art Camp K 12 NM Students Attend

By Ruth Peterson

If you ask, almost all parents agree that the arts are an essential part of any well rounded education. By the same token, there are fewer and fewer public schools that still offer classes in the arts. If a community has a choice between expanding the sports program and expanding the arts program, the vast majority will choose sports over the arts. If you have a creative child, interested in one of the arts, you should consider an art camp K 12 NM is offering.

There are arts based camps that focus on music, drama, dance, and visual arts. Summer camps based on arts are a great way to keep your child stimulated and engaged while school is on hiatus. They have a chance to explore their own self-expression and explore their creativity while they are learning new skills and new concepts.

An empty canvas, a new role in a play, and the first look at a musical composition you are expected to master, is a problem for your child to solve. It is also a chance for the individual child to put his own personal stamp and interpretation on a work. All of this stimulates the imagination of the campers who participate.

Even if your child is enrolled in a school that offers theater, music, and visual arts, these camps are ways for your child to get more individual instruction because the instructor student ratio is significantly lower. Kids who study theater increase their reading levels and reading comprehension in part because of the language used by the playwrights. Children who participate in arts classes consistently score higher on academic achievements tests than students who don't participate.

The arts encourage communication and individual expression. Kids who are involved in these arts camps become more confident about themselves. That makes it less stressful for them to converse with adults and peers who come from other parts of the world and hold other world views.

Kids learn to be more open to the differing opinions of others. This experience creates children who are more sensitive and tolerant toward the thoughts and ideas of those of different religions and cultures. For many of these kids the idea of global competition becomes a real possibility.

Programs are structured so that campers are forced into working together. They are placed into groups and must cooperate and consider the ideas of others in the group in order to create a final product that succeeds and makes each one feel part of the process. Kids who are home schooled work side by side with public and private school students.

Arts based camps are places where children can discover talents they never knew they had. An instructor might inspire a shy child into trying out for the lead in a play and discover he loves the limelight. Another child, who was not particularly interested in drawing, may find that abstract painting grabs her imagination. The possibilities are endless in places where kids are free to express themselves and develop inherent talents.
