Enjoying Barcelona Paintings And Other Attractions

By Jayne Rutledge

In Spain there are a great number of interesting cities, but Barcelona is perhaps one of the most-loved of all because it is filled with modern and historical attractions. Vacationers can spend their time here viewing magnificent Barcelona paintings at the art galleries of Galeria D'Art Manuel Barbie, Galeria Brok, the Francisco Godia Foundation and several others, or by enjoying the architecture of some of the city's famous buildings. There are plenty of modern attractions too.

The places of art in this city are well-known and visited often by tourists. They have displays of pottery and sculptures, in addition to their paintings, and visitors can even buy antique furniture at the Galeria Brok. This gallery can be found at Pau Claris 167. The galleries are open on weekdays, from the morning till evening, and many of them open on Saturdays too. However, their times can differ, therefore it is best to get advice from a tourist center first.

Many of the main attractions are within walking distance, and therefore walking tours are available for tourists. They are nice because they are led by an English guide who is knowledgeable regarding the history of the sights. It is best to book a walking tour early, from one of the tourist offices. You will find the main place of information in the Placa Catalunya.

Walking may not be possible or enjoyed by some, and therefore there are tourist buses that go past the best places in the city. Your time is, however, not restricted at any of the attractions, as you simply get onto the next bus that comes past when you are ready to continue. By bus is one of the best ways to see what the city has to offer. Find out the bus times at the tourist offices.

Parc Guell is considered as one of the main attractions, and is a UNESCO world heritage site. Here the Hundred Columns Room is often visited, where the works of Gaudi are truly fascinating. The La Sagrada Familia and the Casa Vincens are other structures related to Gaudi.

Some of the city's best attractions are modern and ideal for children, such as the zoo and L'Aquarium, two places filled with wonderful animals. Water creatures inhabit the aquarium, and over 7,000 different animals are found at the zoo. The aquarium features an intriguing transparent structure, while Snowflake, an albino gorilla, is a favorite resident at the zoo. Additional attractions include the sea life center.

Further attractions include the beaches along the shore and the Olympic Port. The beach area runs for almost two miles in length, and there are amenities for swimmers nearby. At the Olympic Port, tourists can relax at restaurants, nightclubs and bars, or enjoy one of the many other forms of entertainment available at this location.

The Museo Picasso is perhaps one of the best places to view Barcelona paintings. It has the works of the famous artist Picasso, including some of his ceramic works. Furthermore, you could stop along the Ramblas de Canaletes, where kiosks sell newspapers from all different countries.
