In this day and age, music and musical genres have expanded greatly. The 51 Soul Boston Music Dance Band plays Jazz, Soul, Funk, R&B and Mowtown is just one example of this reality. The band, being one of the most varied bands in the New England area is quickly becoming quite popular. While New England is not always known for live music venues, this band is changing the scene. While most often playing weddings and other special events, the group also has gigs in Salem, MA and other areas in and around New England on a regular basis.
In addition to playing weddings and special events, the group also now plays at local clubs and venues in the area. Most recently having obtained a month long residence in Salem, MA at Victoria Station and having performed at the renowned Ryles jazz club in Boston on more than one occasion. The group is also open to playing to a diverse audience including those in the LGBT communities.
Being open to playing different types of ceremonies and weddings, the group has a bright future. Although, while there is a standard list of covers, those desiring specific music for an event may want to talk to the players well in advance. If given enough time, the musicians are generally more than willing to learn new music.
Some songs covered on a regular basis are Spanish Joint by D'Anegelo, Apple Tree by Erykah Badu, Delivered by Stevie Wonder and many others. A full list can be found on the band website. While these are standard covers, other music can often covered upon request. If a song cannot be covered on the spot, chances are the group will be more than pleased to learn and cover the song at future events.
A variety of different live cuts and videos can be found on YouTube and the 51 Soul homepage.
