The theory of supply side economics is what they advocate stating lower tax rates will increase economic growth. Several Republicans are against higher tax rates to those earning more as they believe those who create wealth and job is unfairly targeted. Private spending, compared with government spending, is believed more efficient.
They also believe corporations should establish themselves employment practices of their own such as the free market will decide the value of benefits and wages. Because of laws like these which seems against them, labor unions opposed them generally. Increasing minimum wages was also opposed because businesses are hurt by forcing cutting and outsourcing jobs with their costs passing to the consumers.

Judicial restraint is favored which encourages limits to judges when exercising their powers and upholds precedent established by past judges. They believe federalism though federal authorities must have limitations and states would have larger roles.
Historically, environmental protection and regulations are supported by their leaders who signed for this some policies.
