Understanding Empowering Books For Women

By Alissa Gilliam

The number of empowering books for women on sale has been on the rise of late. This is mainly attributed to increasing awareness on issues of gender equality. The society is being sensitized on the rights of women. However, while some of the literature is truly aimed at enlightening and emphasizing the plight of ladies, others are money targeted without any serious content.

Civilization and the advent of the education system have led to a drastic change in the family set ups and the society's expectations of us. Long ago most societies were patriarchal with the males as the heads of families. This is no longer the case as women have risen from the banishment to support roles to heads of even the largest corporations in the continent.

Problems arise when the literature taking care of this is not qualified. Sub-optimal books have hit the shelves in many parts of the world. These not only mislead more but also give literature a bad name. Their work encourages the weaker sex to push for their wants regardless of the cost involved. That is how unions have been broken.

Instead of making this world a better place to live it has done the direct opposite. Court battles are on the increase. The family structure was mutilated long ago and respect forgotten. All this time writers have provided no remedy. All they have been doing is feed us with loads of irrelevant literature while the pillars of our society crumbled.

Disparity in the publishing industry has also played a crucial role in feeding the masses with the wrong information. Instances of overpriced uninformative books are a common occurrence. Regulative bodies must ensure that consumers get value for their money. This will not only motivate the industry but also boost consumer confidence.

Readers should also do conclusive ground check on publishers. This will shield them against unhelpful works and exploitation. Profiling also enhances the quality of publications as people will feel compelled to write better for better rating. This further encourages writing houses to ensure all works under motivating women actually motivate them.

Media houses ought to keenly sieve advertisements presented to them. It would be sad for misleading adverts on books targeting women to be run on any shows. Consumers are powerless to the influence of journalism and as such, care must be taken on content presented to them. If anything, they are there to cater for the interest of their audience. Corporate social responsibility dictates they promote only work that improves welfare.

The internet has replaced bookshops and libraries as the perfect source of information. This is the same case for empowering books for women. Every strong-willed lady is encouraged to read some, either those available for free or those slapped with a price tag.
