The Spiritual Meaning Of Trees

A tree is representative of eternal life, wisdom, and sustenance playing an important role in everyday spiritual practice and connections. The spiritual meaning of trees dates back thousands of years and remains one of the most widely used in mythical tales and stories of inspiration and meaning. A closer look at the different trees and its meaning can aid in building a stronger spiritual foundation.

There are many symbols that are associated with trees including beauty, life, and strength. With its deep root system and branches that extend skyward in an intricate display of leaves and colors, it is considered as a suitable choice for those who are interested in growth. The trees and shrubs that are fruit bearing are recognized as sustenance and life and continued renewal.

The Tree of Life is not only referenced in the Bible, but also in a number of cultures and religions. The overall meaning of plant life is based on belief systems that date back thousands of years and includes a central theme including energy and the establishment of root systems. Such means of symbolism can aid in facilitating ongoing growth and improved cultural beliefs.

It is the Mayans who emphasized the magical properties of the mystical mountain, Tamoanchan. It is in this culture that the belief includes the connection of the tree to the three places including the underworld, heavens, and the earth. There is reference to the Mayan Tree of Life that includes an extensive root system and links the different spheres.

The Egyptian Tree is considered the creation where the couple responsible for creation sprang forth. This is the symbol from which all creation is believed to have emerged and is believed to be responsible for life and death. There are a number of ancient paintings depicting the tremendous tree and the early couple that can be viewed in its entirety.

Kabbalah is a practice that includes one of the most complex approaches in the explanation of existence and believes that there is an interconnection between the different forms of plant life. This includes the growth between the roots and branches as representing the flow of the Divine, the earth, and back towards the Divine. This design includes a number of pillars including female, mercy, and equilibrium levels.

The Tree of Life that is referenced in the Bible has been regarded one of the most well known of spiritual systems. It was guarded by a reptile and included a river that ran in opposite directions that was representative of the connections between earth, life, and the heavens. It remains symbolic of the union with God and balance in spiritual spheres.

There is a great deal of emphasis placed on the various cultures and religions. A number of complex processes are noted in these systems; however, regardless of the belief, the trees are considered part of a union or a connection between earth and the Divine. It has been regarded a suitable option for mythical tales and the creation of meaning that focuses on spiritual balance.
