What To Look For In A New Audio Visual System

By Eric M Odessean

Is your business, venue or church looking into getting a new PA system? Is the one that you presently have a bit outdated or has your business or congregation grown over the years and folks are starting to talk about the possibility of updating or expanding your current audio visual equipment but you're not sure about what direction you should head? While a new system might be needed, you want to make an educated decision and take the many variables into consideration before presenting the proposal to the powers that be. Price, options as well as capabilities all come into play while wanting to be careful about the price tag, of course.

Price is often the biggest consideration when we're talking about upgrading or expanding a PA system or audio visual system for a church or any other establishment, as far as that's concerned. Some people are going to balk at the price tag, of course, but the necessity and need should be discussed first. An old sound system can be embarrassing to any venue, as a whole. Whether it be your normal Sunday service, a wedding or any gathering, it sets a bad tone, so to speak, when malfunctions occur or when the sound system simply isn't as robust and reliable as you might hope it could be. Imagine having a problem during a wedding or having older attendees having difficulty hearing the speaker from the back of a large room. Vital information is lost and people become frustrated.

Your new system should make a profound impact on the quality of each and every meeting, performance or service in that it should be easy for people to hear and thus process what you are broadcasting into the air as well as making it simple for both the speaker and technical person to present that information. New technologies and the sound systems that use them are almost seamless as well as being nearly invisible to both the presenter as well as the audience. Wireless headsets and state of the art speaker systems make all of this possible and your audience might even remark that it's almost like there isn't a sound system anymore.

When looking into a new PA system for your business, venue or church, take some time and learn about all the options that you have. Think of all the different scenarios where your going to be using the system in addition to worship services. Maybe during the holidays you have a choir or the children put on plays. Perhaps you're thinking of adding instruments to the worship service at some point.

Keep in mind that as your business, church or venue grows in popularity, your sound system should grow with it. Starting small and adding to a good quality system is much easier than buying something cheap and having to replace it again in another couple of years. Keep all of this in mind and have fun researching all the different capabilities of the many sound systems on the market and see how a new audio visual system can make a great event even better.
